The Lord commands, and Joshua Leads

In these blest scenes

Hark! tis the linnet and the thrush

Our limpid streams with freedom flow

The trumpet calls: Now Jericho shall know

Tis well! six times the Lord hath been obeyed;

Glory to God

See the raging flames arise!

To vanity and earthly pride

Thy mercy did with Israel dwell

How soon our tow'ring hopes are crossed

With redoubled rage return

Heroes, when with glory burning

As cheers the sun the tender flow'r

Nations, who in future story,
